Suburban Library System (NSLS) has created this privacy statement in
order to demonstrate our firm commitment to protecting the privacy of
our members. The following discloses our online information gathering
and dissemination practices.
We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and
to administer our Web site. Your IP address is used to help identify
you and and to gather broad demographic information.
Our site uses cookies. We use cookies to deliver content specific to
your interests and to save your password so you don't have to re-enter
it each time you visit our site.
Our site's registration form requires users to give us contact information
(like their name and email address) and unique identifiers (like your
password). We use customer contact information from the registration
form to send the user information about the System that is important
for every member to know. The customer's contact information is also
used to contact the visitor when necessary. Examples include, cancellation
of programs, online orders submission, etc. Users may opt-out of receiving
future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Unique identifiers
may be collected to verify the user's identity and for use as account
numbers in our record system (never without the user's knowledge). NSLS
does however reserve the option to send out member specific information
to collect data and disseminate information to meet membership requirements.
Our site uses an online forms for customers to request information,
products, and services. We may collect visitor's contact information
(like their email address), unique identifiers, and financial information
(like their account or credit card numbers). Contact information from
the order form is used to send order confirmations and to communicate
with customers regarding their purchase from, and use of, this site.
Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out
section below. Financial information that is collected is used to bill
the user for products and services. Unique identifiers are collected
from Web site visitors to verify the user's identity and for use as
account numbers in our record system. No financial data is stored on
our servers.
Demographic and profile data is also collected at our site. We use this
data to tailor our visitor's experience at our site, showing them content
that we think they might be interested in, and displaying the content
according to their preferences. This information is shared with advertisers
on an aggregate basis ONLY.
We may run contests on our site in which we ask visitors for contact
information (like their email address) and unique identifiers. The customer's
contact information is used to contact the visitor when necessary. Users

Protection of Sensitive Data
We protect your payment instrument
information by fully encrypting the data by applying a 128-bit key.
Our shopping section is also protected by 128-bit SSL. In addition,
our servers are located behind firewalls and inaccessible to the Internet
by privatization and port controls. Access to the payment process is
limited to a very select few individuals working for NSLS with a need
to know the payment instrument information. This access is protected
by further-passworded access to administrative portions of the process.
How You Can Access or Change
Your Information
You
can access, review and/or correct all your personally identifiable information
that we collect online and maintain by going to the Manage
My Account section. We use this procedure to better safeguard your
information. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable
information by using the online forms available at that URL, or by sending
us a request that credibly shows error. To protect your privacy and
security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity
before granting access or making corrections.
Choice/Opt-Out
This
site has extensive security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse
and alteration of the information under our control.
This
site gives users the following options for removing their information
from our database to not receive future communications or to no longer
receive our service.
1. Use the unsubscribe option at the bottom
of any mailing received to manage your subscription options.

Updates
This
site will publish updates to this policy on the web at http://www.nsls.info/about/privacy.html.
In addition, on the footer of pages on the site, the privacy policy
link will indicate the last update date for the policy.
